Helping Others
Community Service is a big part of our lives at PDS. We are always looking for ways to make a positive impact that will help those in need. In third grade, our students look forward to creating a beautiful piece of art emulating the work of a well-known glass sculptor, Dale Chihuly. Our sculpture is taken to the Levine Children’s Hospital to be displayed during the holiday season. Our hope is that our gesture will brighten the day of the children struggling with their health. As I checked my mailbox at school this morning, I noticed a letter from the Levine Children’s Hospital. This letter was thanking all of the third graders for their beautiful sculpture. It was inspiring to hear that one of the patients thought, “If they can do that, I can try harder to get well!” When I shared this with my students, smiles came across their faces just knowing that they had made a difference in someone's life. Sharing these inspirational experiences with our students makes PDS a very special place to be.
