A Moment of Pride
In my Philosophy In Film class today, we were reading the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as part of our study of ethics, and I was struck by the imagery and text of the second article. As I read it over and over again, I kept coming back to the language about how the human rights defined in the document are to be guaranteed to all people regardless of race, religion, color, or gender. At that moment, I felt proud to be a part of the PDS community because I think we are working hard to ensure that each person here feels welcome, equal, and valuable as an individual. This has not and will not always be easy nor comfortable, but it's the right thing to do, and our commitment to this goal inspires me to be a better teacher, father, brother, and husband.
