For the love of community
Last week I watched my six-year-old daughter (Class of 2029) take in her first PDS basketball game. She asked me a lot of game related questions, pointed out her classmates in the stands and devoured a bag of popcorn. Later, as we walked to the car, I asked her favorite part of the evening. "Playing with your friends (her future teachers), Mommy!"
Her response to my question was unexpected but I didn't think about it again until this morning. My moment of inspiration came when I realized that she was speaking to the power of community. What a gift that she's been given to grow up in a place where she will be challenged and stretched in the classroom and on the court by people who have known her since she was a wriggly, silly, insightful little person.
