Cultivating Character
Today I was inspired by our Middle School leadership and the 7th grade faculty for the "7th Grade Character Education Day." This picture shows the entire 7th Grade watching "Living On One Dollar," an amazing film journey documenting several young Americans trying to live on $1 a day for two months in rural Guatemala. After watching the film, 7th grade advisors led small-group discussions on the PDS Character Dispositions of empathy, self-motivation, integrity, and perseverance. Part of our mission is developing a sense of social responsibility, and to do that students need these character dispositions. Students then went on complete a simulation about wages and survival. It is inspiring to see the amazing teamwork of our teachers as they designed an intentional experience to cultivate character in our students.
